more fun weather! Mood: chatty Now Playing: Melissa Etheridge Topic: Weird shit
Check it out!
At least we're getting all of this crap this week instead of next! There's also a big line of thunderstorms headed straight for us right now. It should be nice and nasty by the time I'm leaving today. It'll start just before I get off work, I'm sure of it.
Ahh... looks like no exercise for me tonight! I lifted weights at lunch, so at least I've done something. Guess I'll have to break down and bring my clothes to work out in tomorrow so that I can use the gym at work. Looks like the weather is going to be crappy for the next 4 days or so. Figures! Oh well, I'll get my workout walking around the mall, right? ;)
That's what I'll do, I'll just do a few laps through Mills. I'm willing to bet that it's close to a mile around the whole loop. I think the whole mall is something like 2.5 million square feet. That's pretty big!
Well, it sounds like it's finally about to rain, so I'd better post this before we lose power.

I just counted and figured out that in the past 17 days, I've only missed 3 day of exercise! Not too shabby.
I'm going to dig out the kyocera phone that I bought 2 years ago and see if I can find the charger for it. If I can and it holds a charge, I may use it instead of buying a new phone. I'm going to have less money this paycheck than I realized, there are a lot of bills due at this time of the month (sigh). Oh well, it's all part of growing up, right!? Now I have to figure out what to wear for auditions, and how I can make use of things I already own. I need to get a pair of cute shoes that are also comfortable... now THAT will probably be my biggest challenge... even bigger than picking a song! hehe
ahhhhhhhhhh.......... well, time to get back to work.

football, fat, AI4.......... Mood: chillin' Now Playing: Junkies Topic: Miscellaneous goings-on
Last night I stayed up to watch the Hall of Fame game... Broncos vs. Skins... the Skins won, 20-17... our 2nd string kicker came in and kicked a 39 yard field goal to win the game... I was pretty impressed... our new safety Sean Taylor had a great game -- 2 INT's, 1 resulting in a TD. Pretty awesome! The game was torture to watch, though... the Broncos must have had 20 penalties and the Skins had about 6 or 7.... there was a flag on pretty much every play. It got so bad that the crowd started booing every time a flag was thrown! If the teams got through just one play with no penalties, everyone would cheer, lol. I'm worried about Brunell and Ramsey... neither one really looked that great in that game... Hasselbeck on the other hand really looked good! Ramsey just looked really uncomfortable, which seemed so out of character for him... he couldn't complete a pass to save his life! :-P~
That's it on football.
Onto fat. I feel like I'm losing, but the measurements and scale aren't showing it that much. Walked a bit longer than usual last night... good thing, because we ate pizza for dinner! :(
I haven't decided what song I'm doing for AI auditions... I'm going to the music store at lunch to look at some sheet music. My throat is still a bit yucky... I've been taking vitamin C and echinacea, too. I hope it's better by then.
That's it for now... have work to do!

sooooooooo shleepy Mood: lazy Topic: Weekend happenings
Just woke up from my nap a little bit ago... now I'm researching cell phones... I've been meaning/wanting to get another one for a while now, but haven't. So I haven't decided which company I'm going to go with yet, but I am going to do pay as you go again, since I don't know how much I'll be using it. I'm thinking either Verizon again, or maybe Virgin mobile... they seem to have a pretty reasonable plan/absence of plan. I'll probably check out AT&T, too.
I'll write more about my murder game audition later, maybe next week... too tired to talk about it now, haha. But overall, I think that it went well. Hopefully I'll get a callback. Nevermind, I'll tell the rest of it. I read for the two characters that I mentioned before, I think I did a better job with the Trish character, but who knows. It took forever to get in and read for the Lucy part, about 2 1/4 hours, so I was late to lunch with my mom, and consequentially was STARVING... so instead of having a salad, I had their crack of dawn breakfast... multigrain pancakes, eggs, and bacon... I didn't eat the whole thing at least. Anyway, I didn't get to read for both the parts I wanted, so I decided to go back and read for the Trish part, which I'm very glad that I did... auditions were open until 6, and I got there around 5:30... there were only 4 people there when I got there, so I had hardly any wait time that time. The first reading I did, there were probably 25 or 30 people waiting... I wasn't really prepared for all that! But I tried to be relaxed and everything. I don't know when I'll find out if I got a callback, it might be as long as a month.
Speaking of movies, the Untouchable Films group is waiting on their new 'puter, so they haven't edited the movie yet. I imagine I'll have the DVD in mid September.
I've exercised every day this weekend... this morning Kurt and I walked the trail at Kinder Farm Park.
The scale is broken though, so now I don't know how much weight I've lost. I feel like I've lost, but the scale is all whacked-out. Guess I'll have to just say I've lost 20. :-P~
That's it for now. I'm tired and distracted, I'm sure this post is all over the place.

hectic today Mood: rushed Now Playing: Jonny Lang - Red light Topic: Losing the blubber
I've had a bunch of work this morning, and it looks like I'm going to catch up on all my filing today, too... my desk looks like a tornado came through!
I do have good news.... I put on my jeans this morning, put on my belt... and moved down two notches!! woo-hoo!! I've felt that I wasn't losing any more weight, but it looks like that isn't true. :) So I feel a renewed optimism about my weight loss plan! What might be happening is I'm gaining muscle... which isn't necessarily a good thing, because it might make me look bigger... so I have to keep on the aerobic exercise and also the diet... losing the fat is more important for me then having well defined muscles! My measuring and weigh-in day is Sunday... I've been trying to stay off the scale, because I was becoming a bit obsessive about it!
My throat is still a bit on the sore side, but I've been taking Vitamin C and Echinacea, so hopefully that will head off (or make go away) whatever funk I have or am getting. Kathy had some kind of stomach bug yesterday that sounds really nasty, so I'm hoping that I don't get it from being around her! If I do, I'll probably be sick this weekend, so at least (?) I won't miss work. But that means I won't be able to work out, and I can't afford any more days off exercise. Out of 11 days, I've only missed 3... and I'm definitely planning to be outside today, so you might as well make that 12 days! And 1 of the days that I didn't walk or jog, I still did some sit-ups, push-ups, etc. So I think I'm doing pretty well -- especially for me! The only days I haven't exercised were last Friday (7/30), Sunday (8/1), and Wednesday (8/4)... the friday I missed because I didn't have enough time (Kari & the kids were leaving the following day), Sunday I missed because it was raining, Kurt and I were going to walk in the park... and this Wednesday I missed because I was sick. So it's not like I just didn't want to do it, so I didn't -- I had good excuses! lol...
Well, I just got another rush job dumped on me, so I'd better go. Farewell!

I feel like 10 kinds of ass today... I think I'm getting sick. :( Oh well, better to get sick now than to be sick in two weeks... unless it lasts that long! I'm going to have to stock up on the Vitamin C... no working out for me tonight, I don't think. One or two days off a week won't make or break my weight and exercise goals, especially since I'm eating under 1500 calories... lately it's been around 1300.
Have to get back to work now. See if I can make it through the next 29 minutes. :-/

Excited, yes. Ready, no!
Guess what I just bought?? Purple hair dye!! hehe... I'm going to do one or two streaks over the red that was put in it over the weekend. The red just does not stay!! Makes me mad. I paid $100 for it and the red lasts a couple days... now it's just this dull reddish-brown. No good!
My boyfriend thinks I shouldn't do it. He just said, "You just paid $100 over the weekend to get that color done and now you're going to potentially ruin it with that dye." He just doesn't understand!!!

A karaoke recording studio in the friggin' mall?!?!? So tomorrow at lunch I'm going to go up there and do a song. :)

LOL! And we could use our singing as a superpower!
Sopranos- Belt the high notes to damage their hearing and weapons made of glass
Belters- Pass messages to OUR troops by using our loud vocal abilities
Bad Singers- These are the most useful people in our fight. Cause harm by singing foul notes to the enemies!

Yes! What shall we call ourselves?
We need superhero names......
how about........ Mariachi Melodies and Lyrical Loveshoe?!
Oh, and let's not forget Fabulous Faithdos! (I had a really hard time with F's!)
Yes, I know you're probably freaking over the purple. It's going to look good, though... I promise! It's only going to be one or two streaks, right over where the red is. When the purple begins to fade, it will turn a dark red, like what my hair was supposed to look like to begin with... remember, this isn't permanent! This is also part of my Idol persona... It's just a "fun" part of me... it's the part of me that will be more marketable. I need to have a look; an 'it' factor... I HAVE to get past the first audition. I HAVE to let my personality through... I HAVE to stand out. Last year I had my frog, but big deal. I was wearing jeans and a top with normal hair! I looked like everyone else, only I was holding a dumb stuffed animal. I have to be unique... that means hair, clothes, personality, song choice...
I'm leaning towards sittin' on the dock of the bay... I'm also now considering an Alanis Morissette song... one off the first album, possibly Ironic or maybe my own version of You oughta know. As one of my posts said, there is a karaoke recording studio in Marley STation now, so I'm thinking of going up there tomorrow at lunch and recording a song just for the hell of it. It's only $20... I think that's a pretty good deal!

email to the bobses Mood: silly Now Playing: Everclear Topic: Losing the blubber
This is a conversation that Bob and I were having today. I went to the college to pick up the placement test review booklet which of course turned out to have someone else's scribbles in it and I was wandering around the campus in the 88 degree heat (with 96% HUMIDITY, mind you) looking for the testing center... by the time I looked at it, I didn't feel like hiking all the way back there in the sweltering weather.
Anyway, back to my story....... I stopped at McDonald's on my way back to work to pick up a chicken caesar salad... while I was there I decided to pick up a nutritional guide. Insanity. This is where the email comes in.
Haha, oh, I could! That used to be one of my favorite things at McDonald's when I used to work there!
The weekend mornings were way worse... we used to make up our own sandwiches... we'd put an egg, Canadian bacon, regular bacon, sausage and cheese on a biscuit! That was a cholesterol special! These days you could just wrap a giant piece of cheese around it and it'd be called an Atkins supreme!
Ahh... the good old days! I was about 25 pounds lighter eating that crap! Haha... what happened to me???
From: Lauren Sent: Monday, August 02, 2004 2:24 PM To: Bob Subject: McDeath
Double Quarter Pounder with cheese is 770 calories, Super size fry is 520 calories, Super size coke 310 calories.... So 1600 calories.. that would be over my 1500 calories a day that I'm giving myself!
Speaking of my 1500 a day limit, by my estimates, I've actually been under that limit... I'm eating closer to 1300 calories a day. Which is probably better for trying to lose weight, but could be why I'm starving. The funny thing is that on Friday when I was sure that I'd majorly screwed up my diet by going to Happy Hour, eating at Romano's and eating the buttered bread, etc... even with 2 beers my estimate of that day is only 1550 calories! Not bad. That's been the only day that I've gone over in the past week. I'm really guesstimating these numbers, but I think they're pretty close. I'm going to start paying a little more attention to calorie numbers and am going to start writing down those as well. That way, every day I'm under or at my goal intake, I can feel like I've accomplished something. That will be better than compulsively weighing myself, which will probably only discourage me. I'm only going to weigh myself every few days now.
I swear!

from a post on the AI board Mood: a-ok Now Playing: Pete Yorn Topic: Losing the blubber
This is from a post I made on the AI board
This weekend was a little difficult........ at work I have a set schedule and eat at better times, but the weekend isn't as set... and I didn't exercise much on Friday or Sunday. :-/ I did some push-ups and crunches, but didn't get my walk in. I brought my workout clothes here today, so if it looks like rain tonight, I'll do the treadmill here for a while instead of walking around the block. The other problem I had this weekend was that I didn't drink enough water... I was only drinking 3 glasses a day instead of my usual 6. I'm going to have to think of a way to drink more water.
I think that I've been weighing myself so much I broke my scale! :-/ I need to stop being so scale obsessed and just weigh myself every other day instead of every single day. Especially this week, since I'll definitely be gaining a little due to lovely water retention. :(
But here are my results so far:
Lost 5 lbs.
I've actually GAINED a 1/4 inch in each of my arms... I'm hoping that's muscle!
Lost 1/2 and 3/4 inch in my thighs. I broke my ankle 3 years ago, so I think that's why the amounts are unequal.
Lost 1/2 inch in each calf!
Lost 1/2 inch in hips
Lost 1 inch in the waist!! woo-hoo!
And of course, I lost an inch in the chest as expected. :-/ Oh well.
If I had to guess, I'd say that I'm eating about 1500 calories a day or less, and I've been hungry about 75% of the time. It sucks!
Of course over the weekend I saw a special on VH-1 about Oprah and they were talking about how she went to this resort out in Utah or someplace that costs $3k a week and they pretty much starve you (800 calorie a day diet) and you work out from sun-up to sundown. Pretty hardcore!
I know that 5 lbs a week isn't what's considered a "healthy" weightloss, but I have a lot to lose (about 25-30 lbs), so the first few weeks I know it's going to come off fairly quickly. I've cut out pretty much all alcohol (I'm allowing myself 2 beers a week, max).. for two reasons: 1. empty calories and 2. After a Corona, Popeye's starts lookin' mighty good!
Brought clothes with me today so that I can work out after work here if the weather looks yucky.

took the day off yesterday Mood: a-ok Topic: Losing the blubber
Since Kari & the kids were leaving, and since it was so gosh-darn hot outside! ugh, it was miserable!! We went out to eat at Romano's, and I was good....... I had broiled flounder and a few spoons of applesauce.
It's even more miserable outside today, so I'm going to wait until 7 or 7:30 to go out for my exercise. I did a few jumping jacks and a little isometric work, just to rev up my heartbeat for a bit.
My doctor thinks my thyroid levels are off again, because according to her scale, I've gained 11 lbs in the past 2 months?!? I don't know how that's possible. Oh well, it doesn't matter how the weight got there, what's important is that it comes off. I'm noticing a difference already, and I'm feeling better, more energized and all that.
I got my hair done today, too, and I loooooooooove it... she did a great job. I have some really dark plum red streaks with contrasting light blonde streaks, all at my crown and it frames my face nicely... I had a few inches cut off, but I can still tuck it behind my ears and I can put it in a wimpy ponytail. The cut is a long bob, you could say. It has a little bit of layering, but nowhere near as drastic as it was... I had hair flying all over the place! Not good! The stylist used a flatiron on my hair, which I wasn't really sure about, but I ended up really liking the result.. I may have to get one..... we'll see, though.
That's it for now, I might post tomorrow.
