Got my 4.0 this semester! Hopefully I can keep this up. I just wonder what I could have done had I actually tried in school -- both in high school and my first college attempt at Chesapeake. Maybe it had to happen this way, though... now I appreciate the value of an education more?? I feel even more that there is a reason for everything that happens, because I had a hell of a time registering for classes and ended up having to completely rearrange my class schedules. I remember how frustrated I was at the time at having to change everything around, but it ended up being for the best, because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the same teachers. Guess that's it for now.. I have lots of work that I need to catch up on!

Don't have to go back to school for an entire month -- I even got my books for next semester before I left, so I don't have to go back until I absolutely have to!! :):)

Feel kinda yucky today, I have a cough and whatnot.

Oh joy.

Fantasy playoffs are this week....... I'm going to kick some ass!

... you know how they say that teams find a way to win? Well, the Redskins ALWAYS find a way to lose. That's the frustrating thing about being a Redskins fan. We have great players. We have an incredible defense. One of our probowl linebackers has even been out most of the season, but our defense always keeps us in the game. The frustrating thing is that we also have good players on offense, but because of just one or two bone-headed throws, bad officiating, or bad play-calling we always botch it. Patrich Ramsey has an incredible arm, he's tough, and one day he will be a great QB. People are so quick to throw him under the bus for the interception that he threw in the end zone last night, but that wasn't entirely his fault. The smart play there should have been to call a run play, but for some reason Gibbs (or his senile offensive coordinator) called pass. Hell, I don't know, Ramsey may have changed the play anyway. It was so frustrating. They have less than 2 minutes left, are on the ~25 yard line, with 2 timeouts... score is 14-17 and you're playing the Eagles. What the hell do you THINK you'd do? Gee, I think that I'd try to take as much time off the clock as possible and get the ball in the end zone. They could have even kicked a field goal to tie the game and send it into OT. Ugh. But no, let's throw to the TE in the end zone. No, Patsy never throws a TD pass to Cooley. Doh! Hell, I could have picked that throw off myself!!! I can be pissed off that the Skins lost that game, and I will be bitter until next season about the way this one has gone, BUT from what I've seen over the past 3 or 4 weeks is that this team is finally coming together. I think that it's entirely possible for them to win their last 3 games! They'd better at least beat the Cowboys. God I hate the Cowboys. At any rate, the Redskins are looking a lot better, and although I was hoping for a miracle during Gibbs' first year back, I suppose I can be happy with this latter part of the season. Really, 3 of the last 4 games they've played have been against TOUGH teams (2 being the Eagles, one being the Steelers... both 12-1 teams!!) and they've hung in there against those opponents... so although they didn't win those games, they gave a damn good effort... and if you even look at the stats from the game, it was pretty evenly matched, and if anything was in the Redskin's favor, except for all of the ridiculous penalties.

1st Downs
Eagles 15 Redskins 19

Efficiency
3rd Down Eagles 3-13 (23%) Redskins 5-16 (31%)
4th Down Eagles 0-0 (0%) Redskins 0-1 (0%)
Red Zone Eagles 2-4 (50%) Redskins 2-2 (100%)
Goal-To-Go Eagles 2-4 (50%)Redskins 2-2 (100%)

Total Yards
Eagles 312 Redskins 312

Offensive Plays
Eagles 57 Redskins 74

Passing Yards
Eagles 245 Redskins 224

Comp-Att (%)
Eagles 21-38 (55%) Redskins 29-46 (63%)

Rushing Yards
Eagles 67 Redskins 88

Turnovers
Eagles 2 Redskins 1

Fumbles lost
Eagles 1 Redskins 0

Interceptions thrown
Eagles 1 Redskins 1

HERE is where we got hurt:
Penalties-yards

Eagles 5-41 Redskins 12-137 Of course about 1/3 - 1/2 of those yards all came off of the BS pass interference call on Sean Taylor

Time of possession

Eagles 26:03 Redskins 33:57

If you ask me, everything was pretty much in the Skins favor, except for the penalties. *shrug*

Such is life. We'll beat the hell out of the 49ers next week, at least.

........(here comes the) BUT.......

watching them play makes me physically ill. I always get so nauseaus (sp?) during close games. As usual, they've had a couple calls go against them.. most notably a pass interference call against Sean Taylor covering T.O. It was absolute BS... but whatever, I should be used to the botched calls by now... and on a 3rd & long, Westbrook rushed for x yards (something like 16), and he got a VERY good spot on the ball. It should have been 4th & 1 or 4th & 2 even, but they gave him 4th and inches...... fortunately the Eagles punted, but still.

So I've got my fingers crossed..... I've been flipping back and forth from the Survivor finale and the Skins game. Chris won Survivor, thankfully... he was the only one that deserved it. Guess thats it, halftime is probably over. Good night!

Man, I've really run the gamut of emotions today, haven't I? ANyway, the cause for my celebration? For Christmas, Kurt got me tickets to the Vikings-Skins game on 1/2!!! I am sooo happy! It's going to be a busy few weeks... because....
12/11 lunch w/ dad & christmas party at 7
12/12 football, of course
12/13 finals
12/17 I get paid which means last minute xmas shopping
12/18 having mom over for lunch, then concert that night
12/19 football
12/21 the xmas invasion begins, and CI concert that night
12/25 xmas
12/26 the skins are going to beat the crap out of the cboyz
12/30 shaff's party
12/31 NYE
1/1 Stef's housewarming/master's grad/holiday party in salisbury

and then
1/2 Skins vs. Vikings......... WOOHOO!!

Funny, I've been to more Ravens/Browns games (3) than I have Skins games. Isn't that strange?

Okay, this is the final entry, I swear. I'm too tired to do any more anyway, I think this is my 5th one!

I started on my Psych final tonight...... I'm now on question 5 of 10. I guess that's a cause for celebration, but I'm not done yet! I think that even if I get a C on this test, I'll still get an A in the class. Famous last words, right? Same deal with the English final... that's on Monday. I'm not saying that I'm going to slack off -- I'll do my best, but I'm not going to stress out if there's something I don't know, or antagonize over an extra credit question that I can't remember. Sure, I'd like a 100% in my classes, but an A is an A... it doesn't matter on my transcript whether it was a 90 or a 100... it's a 4.0 and that's what matters. I'd love to have a 4.0 indefinitely, but I have to be realistic at the same time. I'm going to aim for a 3.5. No lower than a 3.0.

I think that during Christmas break I'm going to be seeing a lot of old friends & people..... my friend Chris is coming up from AL to spend xmas with his family, I'd like to get in seeing him, I want to hang out with Patience while she's home, I'll be seeing Stef on the 1st, Shaff's party is on the 30th... and I still have to fit in Karen sometime... she moved to her new place over a year ago and I still haven't seen it! I used to have a lot of fun going over to her house & hanging out... it was always therapeutic. This was one of my resolutions: to spend more time with friends. I think that I've done that, but not to the extent that I would have liked. That resolution is going to continue to the new year... I'd also like to get up to Boston next year to visit my family up there... Emma is too cute to stay away from, and Heather is okay, too -- we can go shopping at Target for hours on end, haha!

I'm hoping to stay in contact with some of the people from my English class, too... there are a couple of people who seem like they'd be fun to hang out with outside of school... Becky and Claire more specifically. At least half of my psych class is going to take the Psych of relationships class next semester, so I'll be seeing them. I can't remember if the annoying girl who asks dumb questions is going to be in there or not, but I would guess that she will be. I'm sure that she'll sit next to me again, too.

Funny, my psych teacher had me pegged on the first day of class: "this is my A student right here."

HA! Guess she does know a thing or two! I think that she's probably a great therapist, too... very straightforward, no-nonsense kind of person. I've been so fortunate this semester with my teachers... I'm sure that I would have done fine with others, but it seemed fitting for me that I ended up with the two that I did... I just really enjoyed their classes and they made the subjects interesting... I particularly liked the stuff we did at the end of the semester in both classes... we actually ran out of time in Psych! Funny.

Well I suppose I should get back to working. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend........ I might not get a chance to post because I'll be hella busy between lunch with dad, xmas party, then football (and possibly xmas tree) on sunday. The TV gods screwed me this week, too, because the Survivor finale is on at 8, and the Skins-Eagles game is on at 8:30. Don't count my boys out yet, I have a feeling that they might pull a huge upset this weekend!! :)

How to dismantle an atomic counter

Or is that how to assemble a counter? ;-)

I've had a few fellow bloggers ask me how to get a counter, so I'm copying an email that I sent to John, aka goldenwoof, whose page I'm going to link to momentarily... his blog is pretty funny, so check it out. These particular instructions work for tripod bloggers, but I imagine that you would use a similar process for blogger, livejournal, or any of those other places. I've found that tripod has been the most user-friendly blogging service to use, although I have used livejournal, and maybe some others I don't remember. Anyway, here follows the counter instructions:

Go to the statcounter.com site and sign up for an account... you follow their instructions; (enter your site info, etc) it's pretty self-explanatory... when you're logged into your statcounter account, there is a row of little icons, click on the wrench icon... that will bring you to the installation & configuration page... on that page, click on "install code"... that will give you the html code that you need to put in your blog. Copy that code & paste it into a word document, or just keep it in your clipboard until you're ready to use it. You can also go to the "configure counter" page to change your starting visitor count... i.e., I started mine on 419.....you can start it on whatever number you would like... there are some other configurations you can use, but everything on that page is pretty self-explanatory. Anyway, on to how to actually put the counter on your blog....... go to your main blog control page (blog manager) and open the "advanced customization" page. On that page, you will select "main page layout", and then click on "edit". That will open up a page with html in a window........ you want to paste your code somewhere between the < body > and < / body > commands... I would advise using the "preview" button to see where it shows up, because it might take a little playing around with to put it in the spot you want... for mine, I put it after "< BLOG_CMP EXTRA >
< br >", and before " < br >
< BLOG_CMP LINKS > "... you'll see what I mean, it just takes a little finagling.. after you're satisfied with where your counter is, click on the save button... that will bring you back to the advanced customization page.... to get the counter to show up on your page, you have to click on the "publish" button. Trust me, I didn't do that at first and I was getting pissed that it wasn't showing up, haha! Anyway, that's all there is to it! And once you have your counter, you can check out the info on who is coming to your blog from where... you can play around with that, of course.... all that stuff is on the left navigation column in your statcounter account. It's pretty cool!

Hope this helped! Let me know if anything needs further clarification! :)
